In recognition of The Great American Smoke Out on November 21, 2024 our Prevention Specialist Teresa embarked upon COCA’s 3rd Annual No Nicotine November Traveling Quit Kit Tour! This year, we expanded the tour, delivering 1,000 Quit Kits to over 20 sites across Berks County to encourage people to quit smoking or vaping. Scroll down to find out what’s in a quit kit.
We extend our thanks to these organizations for requesting quit kits to provide to their members, clients or employees:
Wyomissing Area School District | Muhlenberg School District | Conrad Weiser School District | Recovery Coaching Services | Berks County Housing Authority | Family Promise of Berks County | Bethany Children’s Home | Easy Does It, Inc. | Reading School District | Berks Collab | Alvernia University | YMCA of Reading and Berks County | Hamburg School District | Reading Hospital Rehabilitation | Recovery Coaching Services | Twin Valley School District | AkzoNobel | Concern I Penn State Berks | Albright College | Berks Collab
One month, 1,000 Quit Kits, 20+ Deliveries across Berks County
A Quit Kit is a reusable bag filled with items that you can reach for instead of a cigarette or vape! Everything in the kit is intended to keep you focused on quitting, with items that keep your hands and mouth busy to help fight cravings.
Our Quit Kits include: Hard candy, gum & lollipops | Tea bags | Fidget toys | Flavored toothpicks | Info about free tobacco cessation classes | Stickers to remind people to “Be Patient, I’m Quitting” | A refrigerator magnet with tips for avoiding tobacco | Tips for quitting in English & Spanish
We invite Berks County residents who smoke to participate, joining thousands of people from across the country who will quit smoking for just one day. The Great American Smoke Out (GASO) is an initiative of the American Cancer Society, celebrated annually on the 3rd Thursday of November, challenging Americans to quit tobacco.
You don’t have to stop smoking in one day. Start with day one. Let the Great American Smoke Out event on the third Thursday in November be your day to start your journey toward a smoke-free life. – American Cancer Society
