COCA Camp Challenge!

COCA’s summer prevention programs are looking a lot different for 2020! Our prevention specialists can’t visit camps and recreation centers the way they usually do. So, we have introduced a new program! Our brand new  COCA Creative Activities for Meaningful Prevention (CAMP) Challenge kicked off Monday, June 29, with our first challenge,”Brain Games.” To date, we have distributed over 900 booklets chock-full of fun, brain-boosting activities to libraries and summer programs in Berks County.

How it Works

Each week, COCA will provide participating partner sites with new challenge booklets. The booklets will contain ideas for family fun activities on a prevention topic, as well as a colorful game board. In addition, to accompany the challenges, we have created a series of 10-minute parent Prevention in Pajamas videos to help guide prevention efforts at home. Information regarding Prevention in Pajamas will be included in the weekly booklets and posted on our website.

How Families Participate

Berks County families can pick up a booklet each week from one of our partner sites (click here for a list of participating sites). For each challenge completed in the booklet, they color in a game board tile. At the end of each week they can take a picture of their completed game board and share it in a Facebook post, tagging their pick-up location and @COCABerks with the hashtag #COCACAMPCHALLENGE. Photos can also be emailed to akline@cocaberks.org. At the end of our summer CAMP, the partner location with the most posts will win a gift card to host a pizza party!

The challenge began June 29 and will end July 27, featuring five weekly challenges. Recommended for students in grades K-6.
