Here at COCA we love summertime! Every summer our prevention staff visits playgrounds to provide fun activities that teach important drug and alcohol prevention lessons. This summer we can’t visit youth face to face, so we have created unique, entertaining prevention education activities for Berks County families. For summer 2020, we present COCA’s Creative Activities for Meaningful Prevention (CAMP) Challenge!
Each week, COCA will provide new family fun activities and an engaging parent video lesson on a prevention topic. Participating partner sites will have the opportunity to win a pizza party! Recommended for students in grades K-6.
Families with children who are not enrolled in a participating camp or recreation program can pick up weekly activity booklets with game boards from the following libraries:
The following sites will provide weekly activity booklets and game boards for children who are enrolled in their programs:
Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church
Olivet Boys & Girls Club, Oakbrook
Reading Recreation Commission
West Reading Playgrounds
Check back soon! Additional sites will be added as they become available.
Parents play the most important roll in prevention. To accompany the COCA CAMP Challenge, we have created a series of 10-minute videos for parents called Prevention in Pajamas. Each video will correspond to the weekly CAMP topic to guide prevention efforts at home. Information regarding Prevention in Pajamas will be in the weekly booklets and posted below!
