Berks County students in grades K-12 were invited to participate in COCA’s Red Ribbon Week T-shirt Contest. We had a total of 163 entries! We are grateful to all the students and teachers who participated and made this contest a success.
The Red Ribbon Week T-shirt contest gave Berks County students the opportunity to create a design for a t-shirt based on the 2026 the national Red Ribbon Week theme “Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.™
Three winning entries were selected and three honorable mentions, one in each category: Elementary, Middle School & High School.
Winners received $100 Visa gift cards and every student in their classroom or homeroom will receive a t-shirt with the winning design.
Red Ribbon Week takes place every year from October 23-31. It is nationally recognized and celebrated as a symbol of support for efforts to reduce drug use through youth prevention and education programs. While in the past COCA has distributed Red Ribbons with a drug-free message to Berks County schools, we have moved away from that practice over the past several years. In keeping with the evolving landscape of best practices for Prevention in our schools and communities, we have sought to provide more meaningful resources and activities to support Red Ribbon Week. The t-shirt contest enabled us to engage students and classrooms in a creative activity that focused on a positive, drug-free message: “Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.™ The National Red Ribbon Campaign is organized annually by The National Family Partnership.
