Every September we recognize Recovery Month, celebrating the gains made by those in recovery from substance use disorder, and raising awareness that recovery is possible.
For 2024, we had a full slate of events, including the ever popular Taco Tuesdays, Recovery Football watch parties, Mindfulness Mondays, a game night, and, of course, the Berks Recovery Walk. The one-mile walk followed a new route this year, from the COCA offices at 50 N. 5th St in Reading to the RISE Recovery Center at 702 N. 8th St. The walk was followed by a celebration that included speeches, an invocation by Pastor Tom Scornavacchi and a butterfly release.
