Social distancing has necessarily changed the landscape when it comes to addiction recovery and treatment in Berks County. In-person support meetings have been replaced by Zoom meetings, and face-to-face counseling is often online as well. But the important thing to remember is this: treatment and recovery efforts are still available.
“It’s not like the drug and alcohol system went to sleep here,” said COCA Executive Director Stan Papademetriou in an April 2020 Reading Eagle article. “Right now, today, the system is still operating. The long and the short of it is people still need care and we still have a way to get them care.”
