Youth Engagement Programs

The Council on Chemical Abuse offers several programs that actively engage Berks County youth in prevention causes. These include:

Youth Leadership Council

COCA invites Berks County high school students to participate in our Youth Leadership Council. Participants will learn about substance use prevention, develop leadership skills, and take action to make a difference in the community. Learn more.

Tobacco Resistance Unit (TRU)

Youths aged 12 to 18 across Pennsylvania can earn scholarships, build advocacy and leadership skills, and get free swag by participating in this anti-tobacco movement. Learn more

Project Sticker Shock

Organizes high school students to place stickers on beer cases in local stores. The stickers contain a warning: “It is illegal to purchase or provide alcohol to anyone under 21”. Learn more

Pat Ganter Scholarship

The Pat Ganter Scholarship is a $1,000 award available annually to a Berks County High School Senior who is active in substance abuse prevention in their school or community. Each year, scholarships are awarded in May.  Learn more
