COCA Welcomes 160 to 2021 Annual Conference

The Council on Chemical Abuse held its first hybrid conference on Nov. 4, 2021, welcoming people both virtually and in-person to learn about “Meeting the Challenges of Prevention, Addiction Treatment & Recovery.” Eighty people attended in-person at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Reading, while a similar number attended online. Presenters included Rebekah Sedlock, DSW, LCSW, who spoke about “Medical Marijuana: Three Years Later,” and Kim Porter, CFRS who gave presentations on “The Intersection of Prevention and Community Engagement,” and “The Search for Identity.”

A highlight of the half-day conference was the presentation of the COCA President’s Award to Kim Kulp, of Ms. Kim’s Focus on Healthy. Ms. Kim was recognized for her efforts to encourage healthy cooking and eating among the recovery community.
