Every year, on the first Tuesday in August, the Council on Chemical Abuse staff visit multiple locations around Berks County to help communities celebrate National Night Out.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, better places to live. COCA participates in this yearly by setting up tables with prevention information, interactive children’s games, prizes and giveaways.
The COCA Prevention Team participated in the following Berks County sites, providing information on substance use prevention, treatment and recovery. We handed out medication lock boxes and medication disposal bags, along with children’s activity books and other resources. Our most popular items were DIY stress balls and Pac-man themed pledge boards! See photos below.
