National Night Out

On August 1, 2023, COCA will participate in National Night Out at 4 different Berks County locations, offering activities and fun giveaways and providing information on substance use prevention, treatment & recovery.

Locations Include:

• Sinking Spring Playground 6-9 PM
• Schuylkill Valley High School 6-9 PM
• West Reading Playground 5-8 PM
• City of Reading, 400-500 Block of Penn St. 5-8 PM

Every year, on the first Tuesday in August, the Council on Chemical Abuse staff visit multiple locations around Berks County to help communities celebrate National Night Out.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, better places to live. COCA participates in this yearly by setting up tables with prevention information, interactive children’s games, prizes and giveaways.

In 2022, the COCA Prevention Team participated in National Night Out at 5 Berks County sites. We handed out medication lock boxes and medication disposal bags, along with children’s activity books and other resources. Our most popular items were DIY stress balls and Pac-man themed pledge boards! See photos below.
