Training: Basic HIV

This course will outline the connections between substance use disorders and HIV disease. It will provide information about the fundamental principles unique to this dually impacted population. HIV development, transmission, symptoms, and treatment options will be addressed. Risk assessment, risk reduction, and health promotion counseling strategies will be discussed. The course format will include lectures, discussion, and experiential exercises. Trainer: Elizabeth Jackson.

Elizabeth Jackson, Doctor of Divinity (DD), is a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC), Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), a Certified Master Practitioner Neuro Linguistic Programming (CMP NLP, and a certified mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) trainer.  Dr. Jackson is a dynamic speaker and seminar leader and clinical trainer with extensive experience with addictive diseases and the process of recovery.
