This class will discuss:

  • How and why adolescents abuse alcohol and other drugs
  • Current trends, supported by survey data
  • Effects of various drugs as well as signs, symptoms, toxicity and populations who use
  • Withdrawal and treatment
  • Prevention strategies

This training will be held at our RISE Recovery Center. The RISE Center follows CDC and PA Department of Health guidance to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, which could include wearing of masks and/or social distancing.

Vince is the Executive Director of The Open Door Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Center, Indiana Pennsylvania. Vince has been employed in the field of treating chemical dependency, mental illness, and related issues for 30-plus years. Prior to his current position he held management and clinical positions at Great Lakes Behavioral Research Institute, Pyramid Healthcare and St. Francis Medical Center. See full bio below.

About the Trainer

Vince is presently employed as the Executive Director of The Open Door Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Center in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Vince has been employed in the field of treating chemical dependency, mental illness, and related issues for thirty-plus years. Prior to his current position he held management and clinical positions at Great Lakes Behavioral Research Institute, Pyramid Healthcare and St. Francis Medical Center.
Vince has served on various professional, community, church and legislative boards during the past 30 years. He has been actively involved in areas such as food banks, the homeless, DARE (Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education), EMS (Emergency Medical Service), and school board. Vince is recognized on a state and national level, having been acknowledged by the National Association of Mental Health Program Directors and the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors for developing a model program for the treatment of co-occurring mental health/substance abuse disorders. He also won the Ellen O’Brien Gaiser Community Award in 1997. Vince has been interviewed and featured on many television programs, radio shows, and newspaper articles regarding today’s social issues and related problems.
