
DDAP VIRTUAL TRAINING: Ethics
This is a VIRTUAL two-day DDAP (PA Dept of Drug & Alcohol Programs) training that takes place on ZOOM Monday and Tuesday, July 21 & 22, 2025, from 9 AM – 12 PM BOTH DAYS
This course will address ethical considerations in addiction treatment. In protecting the client, the agency and the counselor from litigation, the counselor must have knowledge and understanding of State and Federal laws and regs governing treatment of the person with substance use disorder, and the HIV positive client. The topic of court mandated clients will be addressed, as well as general concerns about counselor/client limitations and boundaries. Boundary violations will be discussed.
Participant will:
Become familiar with Acts 63 and 148
Become familiar with 42 CFR
Become familiar with at least two ethical theories Discuss their own ethical limitations and boundaries
Please Note: This 6-hour training is held in two 3-hour sessions virtually over the course of two days and you must attend both sessions to receive the certificate of completion. All virtual training participants are required to join scheduled trainings with video and audio and must remain ON CAMERA for the duration of the training. Riding in a vehicle during the training is prohibited.

About the Trainer
Stephanie Murtaugh is a 40-year veteran in the field of behavioral health treatment, intervention and prevention. In her recent position as the Director of Clinical Services at Pittsburgh Mercy, Ms. Murtaugh was responsible for Behavioral Health Ambulatory Care, Community Treatment Teams, Physical Health/Behavioral Health Integration, Primary Care, Community Health and Wellness Programming, Homeless services, Grant initiatives, Intervention Services including Hepatitis C Services, Tobacco Prevention/Cessation Services, Alcohol Highway Safety Programming and Drug Court/Community Justice Intervention Services. Additionally, she is a private trainer and consultant in the field of addictions and previously was adjunct faculty at Waynesburg University, Graduate Counseling Program and adjunct faculty at the University of Phoenix, College of Social Sciences.
