DDAP IN-PERSON TRAINING: Prevention 101

This is a two-day DDAP (PA Dept of Drug & Alcohol Programs) training that takes place at the RISE Center on Thursday and Friday, April 23 & 24, 2026, from:

4/23: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

4/24: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Cost is $20.

Prevention 101 is a 2-part training which provides a catalyst for understanding how primary prevention of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) is defined and implemented in Pennsylvania. Part 1 provides an overview of prevention and its evolution, as well as an introduction of skills, competencies, and data driven decision making to understanding the Spectrum of Prevention and the basics of the Strategic Prevention Framework Model.

Part 2 expands on the basics provided in Part 1 of the course by guiding participants through an in-depth presentation of the Strategic Prevention Framework and applying it to a case study in the field. Will include practice of skills through a fictitious case study.

 

Please Note: This is a 9-hour training over the course of 2 days.

DDAP Policy states that you may not miss more than 30 minutes of the training or a Certificate of Completion will not be issued.

About the Trainer

Karen Laboranti, MS, CFR, obtained her Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Mansfield University and her Master’s in Criminal Justice Administration from Marywood University. Karen currently serves as the Director of Bradford/Sullivan Drug & Alcohol, SCA. With a strong passion for education, Karen has over ten years of experience teaching and training from being an adjunct instructor for Lackawanna College, to operating a training and consulting business, Laboranti Training & Consulting, LLC. Karen is an approved PA Certification Board approved trainer of the Recovery Specialist curriculum and holds her own CFRS credential. Additionally, Karen is an approved Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs trainer in various curricula and ATTC trainer in Stimulants 101.
